Chicago Artist Month

chicagoartistmonth08October is Chicago Artist Month and AWR is proud to be a part of it. Chicago Artists Month is an annual celebration of Chicago's vibrant visual arts community during the month of October.

The 2008 Chicago Artists Month theme is "Artists and Issues that Matter" and the slogan is "Vote Art!". These issues could be those of most concern/interest to the participating artists/organizations, including political, environmental, moral, social, global or personal issues.

You're invited to Bunjin: A Celebration of Spirit and Soul to kick off Chicago Artists Month 2008 at the Hyde Park Art Center (HPAC). Enjoy a global mix of exhibitions and performances, including "Are We There Yet," a photographic exhibition curated by Dawoud Bey, portraits by Dale Washington, singing by the Black Monks of Mississippi and Butoh dance by Nicole LeGette. Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, Hyde Park Art Center and the Yamaguchi Institute.
