The "Keeping Pace with Pleasure" series, by Anne Z. Knight, paints an ironic view of the glamour of the 1920s, hinting at the darker elements beneath the external displays of status, in particular, love for sale.
The images are inspired by 1920s-1930s advertising art; however, the text is drawn from separate sources, including literature and popular sayings of the period.
When creating the series, an effort was made to eliminate brush strokes as much as possible, often giving the impression of a silk screen.

Ms. Knight has been living and working in Chicago for the past 8 years. Previously, she lived in Athens, GA, where she received her MFA from the University of Georgia.
